Transforming HR Operations in the Heart of Luxury Hospitality
Nestled within the largest luxury marina in Europe, Regent Porto Montenegro is a premier hospitality provider. The hotel serves a high-end clientele and scales its operations significantly during the summer season. With an expanding workforce of 150+ employees, reaching up to 300+ in peak months, the HR team needed a modern, centralised solution to manage complex workflows, reduce manual processes, and enable seasonal flexibility.
Regent’s Challenge: Manual Work & Seasonality
Prior to implementing Gecko, Regent’s HR processes were highly manual. Requests for new hires, promotions, and salary increases required paper forms and physical signatures, leading to delays. With an increase in seasonal hiring and a demanding operational tempo, these inefficiencies posed a growing risk to HR compliance and service quality.
The Switch from Legacy Systems to Gecko
Regent Porto Montenegro implemented Gecko as a modern HRM system, following a recommendation from its parent company, Porto Montenegro. The decision was made to start fresh with Gecko, rather than continue relying on legacy systems. Working closely with Žana Zeković, their Human Resources Director, the HR team focused on streamlining critical processes through a modular and phased implementation.
Key Highlights
- Manager Requests: A fully digitised process for new hires, promotions, and salary changes. Previously reliant on printed forms and chasing signatures, the request flow is now routed through Gecko for approval, saving time and ensuring traceability.
- Custom Recruitment Flow: A tailored recruitment process that aligns with Regent’s internal approval structure, ensuring compliance and hiring transparency.
- Overtime and Earned Days: Enhanced tracking and reporting, particularly important during seasonal surges in staff.
- Scalable for Seasonal Hiring: Gecko’s flexible design supports the dramatic seasonal increase in staff.

Results
The impact of introducing Gecko has been immediate and measurable. HR processes are faster, easier, and less reliant on manual intervention. Manager requests no longer require physical follow-up, and the HR team now operates with greater confidence in data integrity and compliance.
“The impact we notice on day-to-day work is that we are more efficient, and the system allows us to easily track processes in real time, ensuring better organisation and visibility across tasks.”
Žana Zeković, HR Director of Regent Porto Montenegro
Looking Ahead
With plans to expand Gecko usage across the wider Porto Montenegro organisation and further automate HR documentation, the future looks digital and streamlined. Regent has laid the foundation for scalable, compliant, and employee-centric HR operations.
